Conversation Starters

I was walking around Tampines Mall and went into this shop - Kikki.K

The exterior of the shop just draws my attention and I decide to walk in. They sells stationary and unique gifts of scandinavian design. Hmmm... but I kinda find their pricing abit off since we are talking about stationary here, we do not wanna pay 100% more when we are really buying a mechanical pencil of which they are selling almost SGD10.00 where we can easily get SGD4.00 from Popular Bookstore. So yes... its pricey. But then, unless its a something special or something that is not commonly found, we may wanna pay alittle more since we may not get it elsewhere. So.... I came across this little red box that says : LOVE CONVERSATION STARTER. And yes, I bought it... it cost me SGD19.00 but I really find it quite interesting and maybe useful for awkward situation when both are drained and cannot think of anything else to talk about.

Maybe some people may deny the fact that they have nothing to talk about with their partners. They may even claim that their love life with their partner are always interesting, things to do, talk about everything under the sun.... i'm in love with my bestfriend etc etc. But the truth fact is, we are all human beings and human beings gets drained and even with your best friend sometimes we are just lost of words and then silence is the best cure. Enjoying each other's company and not saying a word! that's bliss I think... that is nice.

But here I just bougth a Conversation starter! Not that I have nothing to talk to Jos about, but I just find this really interesting because, some questions are just not what you would ask or even think about! It just kick a conversation and gets to know each other better

A few example of the question normally asked... What I wouldn't leave the house without, the golden rule of flirting etc... its interesting really some of the question and I particularly like these few:

Q: The first thing I would purchase if I won the lottery
A: An Air-ticket to Amsterdam! hahaha so lame! yes that's all I ever wished for!

Q: My advice to a friend that wants to find love is......
A: Fuck I don't know because it just happen! Love comes to you... you don't find love! Agree?

Q: I love the smell of.....
A: Jos in the morning! :D

So yes... interesting isnt it? I mean some question could be lame but we can laugh it off! I am so going to try this and will update when I did!

P.S. 12 Days to Avril and 15 days to U! Hearts!!!

Mug - Mosquito In Da House!

Mug in Dutch means Mosquito. And yes, there is this mosquito that I've spend alot of time with and realise I haven't really blog about this mosquito. The time I spend with this red-haired mosquito may be even more than that with Jos because when Jos is working, I'll be home with Mug. We are each-other's companion...

So who is Mug? Mosquito in Red? Now... let me present to you..... Our Mosquito in the House!

And Ta-da!!!!

The cutest & biggest mosquitos ever!

Mug is male cat.. almost 3 years old. Fit and super active! I've met him in Oct 2010 in the 2nd storey of a house in a little town named, Dordrecht in Holland. While I've come in contacts with dogs of all kinds, big and small, and I reckon I handle dogs pretty well because you just know what they are up to and canine are man's bestfriend! So handling a dog, even a german shepherd, me have no problem!

But when I was introduced to Mug for the first time... the first thought that really came into my mind was: "Oh Damn, I haven't really have much contact with a cat! What do I do now?"
(P.S. Jos didn't know about my thought of course!haha =))

But nothing to fear! I told myself... animals are just god's creature for human for companion. Moreover, I am an animal person, animal loves me... I can handle them! No worries at all... Mug will love me too.

So... me and Mug made friend. It wasn't really stressful even from the beginning as with cat character being cool and aloof, many times I wished Mug would snug with me on the couch like how Oreo would! (Oreo is my Yorkie) He hardly does that until one day! This is just taken recently! And we have obviously gotten closer and begin to appreciate what I does for him, like opening the door to a German Shepherd! haha. Anyway... He is such a sweet-thing! And I bet Jos is totally jealous when he sees this!

Now back to the beginning... since I had to live with Mug for a few days, I had to know his likes, dislikes etc. Before Jos leaves the house, he would already have put enough food on Mug's food tray for the day. So I don't really have to worry about food for him. But I have seen Jos opening the balcony door umpteen times to let Mug out so he could roam around like all cat does. Therefore I know, each time Mug seat near the door or meow at the door, I have to open the door for him!

Open the Door - Meow!

And I did... and I have no problem doing that. In fact, I enjoy each time he asked to go out and I'd open the door for him. Not such a chore lah! The door is 2 steps away from the couch really! But when Jos has to do it too often, like open the door every 5-10mins, he start complaining ... "Oh come on Mug!" And that sight... is quite amusing! haha

As time went by, I begin to love being around Mug. I enjoy staring back at him when he stared at me. And we would locked eyes for half a minute! haha.. its really funny because I really wanted to guess what he is up to next.

The first time Mug jump on me in the middle of the night while I was sleeping was freaking scary, I was all curled up. I didn't want him near me while I was lying down. I felt helpless and defenseless, I won't move an inch just in case he scratch me on my face! And then he would gently stretch out his paws and still gently touch my face. He did it once... he did it twice.. and now, I cannot remember how many time he does it! haha.. now I am beginning to miss Mug.

In Holland, it seems to me, every household has cat or even cats! Some people think that cats are haughty creatures that show little or no affection but cats are really loving and affectionate to their owner and even protective sometimes. I watch Mug snuggling up to Jos all the time. So the myth about cat being haughty are so wrong.

Mug with me stealing some rest...

7 years itch could now be 3 years

I haven't felt well the whole of today. Did anyone realize the weather is really strange? Was all sunny yesterday and raining whole of today! Madness! My throat hurts, my head spins, just feel crappy!

Having said that, I have eaten my medication and should feel drowsy by now. Instead of feeling drowsy, o can't sleep! What's wrong with me? Fml!

Honestly, the truth is I came on my blog was i've been thinking about relationships. Just about mine and people around me. My friends, my mum, my sister and even friend's friend! It send a chill down my spine and I'd thought I should blog about it before the thought just went away.

My Mum & Dad, divorced after more than a decade. Hell for us as children but am actually glad as long as they are happy.

My Eldest Sister, was with a man for more than a decade as well and broke up. Now happily married with my Brother in law who is an American.

Jos' Mum & Dad, also divorce when he was merely 3 yrs old. And now both happily married with another. (Thought: Does finding the right one comes a long way?)

And me... was with my ex for 7 years until the big trial came and we didn't pass that trial. We broke up.

Think about it.. There has always been a saying, about how a relationship of 7 years would normally be put through a big trial and if the couple pass that trial and still stay together, they will survive the next 7 years. This is kinda of a Chinese believe.I look around me and realize, many don't even last 2 years! It's scary.. Don't you think?

And then....I was reading a friend's ex-girlfriend's blog. I don't really know his girlfriend at all but happen to stumbled upon her blog just recently. (ok I am nosy! So be it.) This friend of mine has broke up with this girlfriend for 1 year and a half year. Today, my friend is already engaged to another girl. The thing that really set me thinking is not the break up. Break up can be due to many reasons and some are just not meant to be. However, I just cannot imagine one would break up when they seem so perfectly in love just a year before. And I really mean breaking up suddenly. They seem so perfect on the blog entry day to day... and until one day the entry turn bad and it was straight to the point of break up. Deeply in love before yet it only lasted 3 years.

3 years to me is not a short period of time.. And to break up and almost immediately found another seems cold. I don't mean to blame it on anyone when break up happen but it just send a chill down my spine to realize relationship can indeed be so fragile. How then can one sustain a long term relationship? How then can one sustain a marriage? The thought of all these froze me.. I dont wanna lose Jos and I don't want him to change or love someone else. I cannot imagine that happening. But nothing last forever.. That's just life.

I reckon, now to stay positive is to believe the phrase "as long as we once were, it doesn't matter of it didn't last forever."

P.S. Do we have a choice?

The Netherlands and all its beauty!

While waiting to go for my Friday night roller blade session with the gang... I was feeling all envious of my friend Chris who is currently on her way to Bali to spend the weekend with her boyfriend. As the feeling of envy gets stronger.. I decide I would send Jos a text to express how I felt despite knowing that he would probably be busy now with work. His reply was "we will go Texel!" I was like.. did he spell wrongly? Was it Texas he was talking about? If it is.. why Texas? in the USA? strange. He replied... Texel in Holland... google it! So I did and am totally awe by the sight. Its a beauty! And to think I've been to Holland that many times but never been to the beach! Here are the photos I grab from the web. (courtesy of : www.picturesofholland.nl/)

After viewing all the pictures, I send another text to say its beautiful! He said.. "also google Marken" And I did... see what I have found: courtesy of Adam : www.panoramio.com/photo/17

Its awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now you have to agree... look at this! Ok.. I think the photographer is awesome too!

Can anyone imagine the joy in my heart? I am gonna visit the above soon! Now I am all excited... but Jos is a lazy person so I should be happy if I get to visit only one place. I will update with my photography skill after I visit! Gotta run now! Loves all~

Iphone Application

Was playing with some iphone application. I realise alot of the free application are mostly trial version that are totally useless. I was playing with it and wanted to choose a border of my choice and when I touch the screen, it says "If you like this border, please purchase the full version" I am like : WTF? I should say... What's new? I did not purchase the full version of course because I didn't feel its worthwhile. Considering how much I would need the application. Now see what I've done to one of my favorite picture...

However, there is one application on iphone for photos that I would really recommend are application from this webby : http://www.more-thing.com/ and its totall free. There are quite a few applications for photos and I think all are awesome! Go check it out now!

Tongue Twister Thursday!

I am really tired now, after suffering the jet lag for more than 96 hrs. But I had drag myself outta bed after taking a 10mins nap and decide I have to blog this! From this week onwards, its gonna be TTT every Thursday for me! Yeap... Its The Tongue Twister Thursday! This is clearly what I have set for myself.... to learn the Dutch Language and finally I started! Tonight was the first lesson and I am all geared for it.. here is introducing my native dutch language teacher - Mr Matthieu Quere. I was actually expecting a much younger man since the picture of him on the school website differs so much from who is sitting in front of me. He must have aged alot due to excessive blood loss from teaching complete idiots to the dutch language! hahah... Don't believe? Try comparing the pictures from what I have below to the ones on the website. (www.allwrite.com.sg) You will agree to what I have just said.

My Dutch Teacher...

Ok, Sorry I digress... the purpose of this blog post is not about the teacher... is to remind me of what I have learn today and I've decided that I will blog every Thursday just so I recall what I have learn and practice them on a daily basis there after.

My Daily Bread from Now!

Les Een... that means Lesson One!

I've learn the 26 dutch alphabets which is consist of A - Z. However the pronunciations of these letters differs from that of what we would use when we speak english. And that is a real challenge. I somewhat find Dutch to be extremely difficult versus all other languages because its just one of its kind, not similar to any other language. Matthieu said today to clear all the mind set of the students : "Dutch Language is not difficult... its just different!" Thats quite a good one and I have to agree.

The way to speak dutch is very much making friction at the back of your throat at some time and also rolling your tongue at another. Initially I felt really weird and comical because I feel that I would spit anytime soon. But when everyone else is doing it... you just wanna do it more. So really... its cool to do it in a group.

We have 7 ladies in the same class and all are learning dutch for their dutchie man except for one that is going over to Holland for Studies. Arent women the greatest creature around? They are just so willing to give... and also not afraid of any hard work. Salute! to myself of course! :)

Then I also did Les Twee, which means Lesson Two. This lesson goes through quickly on how we should spell each words. I realise I can't put everything on my blog post because its hard to put it in words clearly unless I copy write from the notes. Which is really dumb! haha so anyway... I really enjoyed the lesson and am already looking forward to the next!

Please wish me success! Love all!

P.S. Ik Hou Van Jou! X

S.A.D. - Seasonal Affective Disorder

I think I can clearly say that I am going through Seasonal Affective Disorder. Well, although mine is not affected by the weather seasonal mood swing, but it is clearly seasonal. lol! I can't sleep! Although clearly I am tired and I am not enjoying my life here in Singapore!

While I was checking my own feeling of being moody and came out with this term I didn't release it is indeed a medical conditions with some people that went through seasonal mood swing during summer or winter, spring or autumn, year after year. Its suppose to be a major depression and could lead to serious distress.

I remember having a chat with this dutch friend of mine when I was in Holland sometime last year in December. The weather was freaking cold with snow day in day out throughout the whole of december and finally a white Christmas which everyone in Holland had wish for. Our conversation went like this:

Me : The sight of white everywhere are really a beauty!

S : Yes it is but its also the most depressing time of the year. (While saying that... his tone low and serious)

Me : Oh ? Why? S : Because the weather depressed some people and hence suicides are most common during this time of the year.

Me : What? Who ever suicide because of weather? And look ! Its beautiful white.. don't they see?

S : haha.. yes, but to some they get really depressed during winter time and suicide rates goes up. Most suicides occur in train station! (OMg that's scary lah.. wtf!)

Me : Pardon me.. but I do notice Dutchie being really cold people. How do you agree with that?

S : Yes, we are from a cold country therefore, we are cool and steady. Most time of the year is cold.. haha.

And, I recall also having the same conversation with Jos about dutch people being much colder than europeans like Frenchie or Spanish. And I remember getting so upset with Jos that I exclaimed : Why are you so cold? I feel so sadden by his coldness that I thought he lost his love for me. It drives me crazy really! So talking to other Dutchie helps since they are whole lot alike. Infact... on 2nd thoughts, Jos is alot warmer than most dutch. Lucky me!

Thats all for my sleepy post.... gonna try to catch a wink now. Nights peeps!

P.S. Yesterday!

Keukenhof, Holland - Its Spring Time Baby!!!

Its Spring time in Holland! Everyone is happy. The weather is at perfect 13-14 degrees with sunshine! We started seeing flowers of all colours blooming while walking pass, driving pass, from the window, along the highway, on the trees, in homes.. everywhere. Its a feeling of a very happy atmosphere. I love the feeling. I love winter too. Its just a different feel, its really good being able to enjoy the full 4 seasons. In Singapore.... its summer time all year round! so yea... this is smuacks! lovely!

And... so... hand in hand.... We visited Keukenhof - Holland! Although I have someone that cannot stop yawning most time... I enjoyed his company, the beautiful sight of colourful flowers everywhere and the fresh air !

Yes I meant... Hand in Hand! =)

And now................... lets allow the pictures to speak its thousand words! =P

Entrance to Keukenhof... Exciting!

Yellow no longer Dirty Fellow... Love that Shine!

Large Windmill just at the middle of the Park!

Now.. admire that colours! Awe!

Boat Rides are also available! Cool!
Me in Wooden Klompen! Fit well =)

This actually feels like cherry blossom!

Flower Bulb Shop! Still love wood finish.. Tulips.. everywhere!

We were actually too early so most of the flowers are not in its full bloom but its still a beautiful sight for me. This is better than our Singapore Botanical Garden by many times. Its only normal because Singapore is not a country that has the best weather for breeding of flowers.

Swans! Where is the Black one?
