Surreal is ... Ski-ing on High Moutains @ Les Menuires, France

Yes I have been on the Ski Mountain and how can I not blog about it? I realise I have not really say anything about the Ski experience I have which to me is one of a lifetime kinda experience. I will never imagine myself on the moutains sking if its not for Jos. So yes it is a surreal experience. One that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Although Jos has promised a ski trip yearly but this experience seems like a dream come true and to think that I am going to have a dream come true every year... that is unbelieveable! haha... but yes I am looking forward to our next trip. This is the 5th year Jos has been on the Ski and It's my first, I hope by the 5th year I will be able to go on the Red Slopes! For now... I am happy to be on the green and maybe sometimes on the Blue.... still challenging for me!


Now back to where we stayed on the cold moutains. Jos' parents booked a Chalet that is privately owned by a Dutchman at the price of approximately EUR2500 for 6 days. We started our 10hrs drive from Jos' parents home @ Wijngarden (another beautiful place, which I should blog about in my next post!) at about 8am in the morning. The journey was pleasantly enjoyable not just because I am in the car with my love, the scenery along the way was way too beautiful and scenic. Love every bit of the ride on the highway. The only part that gets us frustrated was when we were stuck in a traffic jam somewhere at the bottom of the alps. Along the frustrating jam... I snap a few nice pics of France but its not with me now... so till next time! :)


We reached the Chalet at approximately 730pm and I awe in disbelieve when I enter the chalet. I will now let the pictures speaks its thousand words.. check it out now:

The Rooms! There were about 7 bedrooms in total and there was only 8 of us. So we have a few rooms spare. And on top of that.... we have a suana room and a bath tub attached to one of the room. The room is not a big one but it surely is cosy and nice especially with the wood finish, it gives me an authentic feel! Aren't you already feeling the authentic smell?? Oh and there was also a fireplace which I did not take a picture of! crap! =)

The next day... its time to get all our ski and ski boots rented and also check out the map of the alps. But before that.... breakfast!

Martin in Black and White strips ski jacket.. he is Jos' cousin and we took 2 ski lessons together! He is a super great guy. He learn really fast as he was alot more daring than I am... so by the 2nd lesson, he was already out on the blue slopes with the rest while me still trying out some simple blue slopes with Jos. Poor Jos has to take these unchallenging slopes with me and good thing he isnt complaining. Love him much!

First Pizza Making Experience

Now I am not talking about buying ready made dough from the grocery store or ready made pizza and warm them up in the oven. According to Grandmaster J....That's not cooking! So this will be the 2nd time we cooked together and this time we are baking a Pizza! Sounds like a big chore to a complete idiot to cooking or baking. But cooking with Grandmaster J actually seems easy all the time! I will skip the details in words since a picture already paints a thousand words... no? haha... I am just a super lazy blogger! Here we go:-

First : The dough mix!

Second: Knead with both hands and spread on baking pan.

Third:- Spread Pizza sauce on top of dough!

Learning to live like an Expat in the Netherlands

I have 5 more days here in Dortrecht and hate the feel of the clock ticking and in no time I'll be back in boring Singapore working! damn! Irony of life... when having a good time, you wish the clock stop... when you having hell, you just wanna yell... "damn, wish its over sooner!"

I woke up this morning by the warm kiss from my love and was also served with a cup of tea! This is Life ! Don't you think? haha.. but didn't last, Jos had to rush for work and me all alone once again with Muggy the cat! That is still life... cos then I can now do whatever I want with the house! First thing First, I decide to make myself a traditional Dutch Breakfast.. and I will for the next 5 days... I remember Jos make a egg sandwich for me and claimed its typical dutch.. I would think its more typical Jos, because he simply love eggs.. so this is what he made:

This morning I thought... typical Jos or typical Dutch breakfast today? And I decide to make myself a typical dutch! I'd think I need to start getting use to having bread instead of the fried bee hoon I have back in Singapore. Jos had problem when we were on ski mountain last week... cracking his head trying to think what I would like for breakfast that is closest to being Singa on a French Alps! Stress much? Poor guy! haha.. So here is my breakfast today:-

If you ask me... I think the Dutch Breakfast looks healthy and better but taste? Nothing beats Singa Cha Bee Hoon with Chix Wings maybe? haha... I am starting to miss it a little. But will not trade Cha Bee Hoon for life in Holland! =)

Also, last night we cooked! According to Jos its the typical way a Dutch cooks an Indonesian simple dinner, so here are the pictures:

Greetings from Dortrecht, Netherlands

Sometimes I wish I am like those professional blogger that blog daily about their daily life in detail! But when I sit down, open up my lappy and log into blogspot..... I totally fogot what I really wanna blog about.

My life isnt boring. I am enjoying every bit of my 2 weeks holiday with the love of my life but I just didnt remember one thing I must blog about. Maybe the real bloggers are one that go into detail of every single thing they see each day and even criticise or comment with lotsa thoughts about the things, buildings, experiences and even people they come across each day. Thats just not me... or I should say, I don't keep things in me for long, good or bad... I let it pass and I move on to experience new things. And when I had a bit of time and start to re-collect, I realise it isnt important at all to blog about. lol... attitude i have but so be it.

Today, Jos is back to work and me... alone in the house with Mug the cat (now sleeping right next to me, haha) I have no complains being alone at home, well at least I have a home to be at! So, I am glad and quite happy to do his laundry and clean the house. Had sandwich for breakfast and I should walk out to grab a burger for lunch soon....

Its Spring time in Holland, beautiful weather @ 13 degree in the day time. I've learn to do what typical dutch does.... ride on the bicycle with Jos yesterday to town. Despite the boots and leather jacket I have on, I still feel the chill wind on my face but the experience was one really romantic one. I also just learn to run and jump on to the seat behind the bike. Its not that difficulat love! =)

SO yes... Life in the Netherlands is great! I love it here not just because I don't have to work. I can actually imagine my life here. Ski holiday every year is also an ideal life to be! haha.. check out my picture on the ski -

This white ski jacket is a gift from Jos for my birthday, its white with purple hood. Love the colour combination and it comes in really handy for my trip. I saw also on the button it says "First Love, Last Love" Doesnt this phrase means so much? Jos doesnt know that the button has this engrave on but when I sees it, it reflects on my relationship with him. To me, it could really means first love, last love.

Gotta run for my burger before I die of hunger... ending this post with Muggy the Sleepyhead! X

Hey people! Finally I find time to do a little blogging from my blackberry.

This is already my 3rd day in the alps! The scenic view from high moutains
Hasn't stop enchanting me. Each time I go up the top.. I would go "wow!" But
Next I would fear ski-ing down with my most lousy skill even with already
The 2nd lesson.

I love everything here except the cultural differences and the language
Barriers. Noone's fault.. Its just coz I'm a Singaporean that don't speak
Dutch and happen to fall in love with a Dutchman. Its quite unbearable facing
All these differences.. Sometimes I wonder why am I in for? Although Jos and his family been really nice to me, I feel like a heavy burden on them. I prefer not to impose or being a burden. So today I decide to lie in bed and stay in the chalet alone. I'll read a book, blog abit and do some real nua stuff. BRB!

Preparing for my 1st Ski Trip!

Its's been a rough week for me. Totally draining, both mentally and physically. I am so glad the weekend is here and I can now unwind and do some soul searching! heh!

Finished off work late today and by the time I sat down to recap the day, I realise I have not really thought about my upcoming Ski trip which is exactly a week from now!! Honestly? I am now a panicky duckling that appears calm on the outside but struggling real badly on the inside. What do I do? I have nothing but a Ski Pant! Although Jos had took an extra day off to take me shopping before the trip, I still feel somewhat insecure of being so unprepare of a trip I've been longing for since Sep last year. I do not want to screw my holiday! It has to be well prepared and loads of fun.

So here I googled and listed down the Top 14 Things I need to bring for my Ski Trip:

1. Hat - to keep my head and ears warm - Unchecked!

2. Goggles/Sunglass – Skiing without goggles is really painful, so don’t forget them! (Grandmaster J says I might get snow blindness if I don't have sunglass!) - Unchecked!

3. Gloves – Unchecked~!

4. Jacket – Checked

5. Ski Pants – Checked

6. Long underwear (non-cotton fabrics) – Long underwear rocks! Long underwear helps you to stay dry. (WTF is long underwear?)

7. Sweater/Fleece – Long underwear is not aleays enough so you also need a sweater or a fleece. (Freaking troublesome?)

8. Socks – Make sure you have good sport socks because wet socks can cause your feet damage. - Checked

9. Backpack – Every now and then there will be a situation in which you’ll need a backpack - OK Checked

10. Ski bag – Some day you might want to carry nice little stuff with you so remember to take your ski bag. - I don't need that?

11. Sunscreen – I have burned my face so many times that all I can do is recommend you to take sunscreen with you. - Noted!

12. Lip balm – The same with lips. They can get burned. - Checked

13. Beeper – A beeper is a tracking system in case you get buried in an avalanche. (What the???!?!?!)

15. You – Make sure you remember to take yourself with you (Sure!) =)

See the amount of unchecked and remarks? I am so not ready.... I am gonna print this list up and march into the shopping centre tomorrow. I've also googled the best place to shop for winter stuff in Singapore is in Plaza Singapura which is just next to where my dinner appointment will be tomorrow! Cool... this all now make more sense. I will be ready by next week I am sure! =)

Now I am happy again..... cant wait to see grandmaster J! heh!
